The Dandy Handyman is committed to making our website usable for everyone, including people who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, or other assistive technology. We want anyone in Mulino, Molalla, Oregon City, Canby, or West Linn to be able to find our services, learn what we do, and get in touch without getting stuck.
1. Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. That means we work to keep color contrast strong, label every form field, add text alternatives to meaningful images, and make sure the site can be operated with a keyboard alone.
2. What we've built in
- A "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page for keyboard users.
- Visible focus rings on links, buttons, and form fields.
- Semantic headings, landmarks (header, main, footer, nav), and a single H1 per page so screen readers can scan the structure.
- Plain-language labels and autocomplete attributes on the contact form so password managers and screen readers can fill it out smoothly.
- Native expandable FAQ sections that work without JavaScript and stay readable when zoomed.
- Tap targets sized for thumbs on mobile.
- Alt text on photos that carry information, and empty alt on decorative ones.
3. Known limitations
We test the site regularly, but a few rough edges may still come up. If you run into one, please tell us so we can fix it:
- The desktop "Services" mega-menu opens on hover. Every service page is still reachable from the footer, mobile menu, and the sitemap page.
- Some embedded third-party content (like map previews or review widgets) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We pick partners carefully and replace ones that don't hold up.
4. Tell us if something breaks
If a page is hard to use, a form won't submit, or you can't reach the information you need, we want to know. We'll do our best to respond within two business days and fix the issue or give you the information another way.

- Use the Call or Text buttons on the contact page to reach us. Please mention "accessibility" in your message so we route it to the right person.
5. Ongoing work
Accessibility isn't a one-time project. As we add new pages and features, we test with keyboard navigation, screen readers, and contrast checkers, and we welcome feedback from the people who use the site every day.
