Why us

Fans Without the Wobble.

Three things that separate a fan install you forget about from one you regret every night.

  • 01

    Fan-Rated Boxes

If your old box isn't rated for the weight and torque of a fan, we upgrade it. That's the difference between a quiet fan and a future ceiling repair.

  • 02

    Flat-Rate Quotes

You'll know the price before we open the box. Box upgrades, switch changes, and remote pairing all priced up front.

  • 03

    Balanced & Quiet

Blades balanced with a real kit so you don't get the slow wobble that drives people crazy at night. We test on all three speeds before we leave.

The neighbor's tip

Ceiling Fan Install, From Someone Who's Done a Few.

If a neighbor in Mulino called and asked who to hire for ceiling fan installation, here's exactly what we'd tell them. First, the box matters more than the fan. A lot of older homes around Molalla and Oregon City have standard pancake boxes holding up the existing light fixture. Those aren't rated for the weight and the side-to-side load of a spinning fan. Hang a fan off one and it'll work fine for six months, then start dropping, then drop. Step one of any fan install is checking whether the box needs a fan-rated upgrade.

Second, the wobble isn't normally the fan's fault. Brand-new fans straight out of the box are usually balanced fine. Wobble comes from a blade slightly bent in shipping, a loose screw where the blade meets the iron, or a downrod that isn't tight into the mount. We carry balance kits and check the wobble with the fan running on high before we pack up. The Dandy Handyman doesn't leave with a wobble going.

Third, the remote question. Pull-chain fans are simple and never need batteries, but they're a pain on tall ceilings. A wall-switch fan is the classiest install if your wiring supports it (you need a hot wire for the light and another for the fan, or a smart switch that handles both). Remote-only fans are easiest to retrofit because they piggyback on the existing single switch leg. We'll tell you which one your wiring supports.

Good to know

Ceiling Fan Questions.

Do I need a fan-rated box, or is my existing one fine?
Most existing light fixture boxes are not rated for fans. Light boxes hold weight, but they don't handle the side-to-side torque a spinning fan creates. If your fan came with a generic mounting plate that screws into a standard box, that's a warning sign. We swap in a fan-rated brace box during install, and most of the time we can do it from below without cutting drywall.
Why does my old ceiling fan wobble?
Wobble has a few common causes. A bent blade from a shipping ding, loose screws where the blade arm meets the motor, an unbalanced blade weight, or a downrod that isn't tight into the ball mount. Sometimes the box itself is loose and the whole fan is rocking. We diagnose which one and fix it without you needing a new fan.
Can you put a fan where there's currently only a light?
Yes, that's one of the most common requests we get from West Linn and Oregon City homeowners. The existing light's wiring usually works for a basic remote-controlled fan. If you want wall-switch control of the fan speed independently, we may need to pull a second hot wire or install a smart switch instead.
What about brand new fan locations with no existing fixture?
Doable, but it crosses into electrical work that depends on the ceiling, the attic access, and whether the room has an open or closed floor system above. We'll take a look and tell you honestly whether it's a quick run or if it needs a licensed electrician to pull fresh wiring through finished walls.
Will you install a fan I bought online?
Yes, we install fans regardless of where you bought them. Just have it unboxed and the instructions handy when we arrive. If we find missing or damaged parts in the box, we'll let you know before we start so you can decide whether to reschedule or proceed.
Are outdoor-rated fans worth it for a covered patio?
Absolutely, if you live anywhere humid (so, everywhere around here). Standard indoor fans corrode out fast on a Mulino or Canby covered patio because of how much moisture is in the air even when it's not raining. Damp-rated and wet-rated fans use sealed motors and rust-resistant blades and they last for years.
Do you handle smart fans and remotes?
Yes. Smart fans like Hunter SimpleConnect, Haiku, and the various Wi-Fi-controlled models work with us. We install the fan, pair the remote or app, and confirm it all works on every speed and the light. If your house already has smart switches, we'll integrate cleanly with what you have.
What's a reasonable price for a basic fan install?
A direct fan-for-fan replacement is usually $175. A light-fixture to fan upgrade with a fan-rated box swap runs more like $225 to $275 depending on the box and remote situation. Brand new locations with wiring runs are quoted individually. Send a photo of what's up there now and we'll get you specific numbers.
