Why us

Clean Gutters, Dry House.

Three things that make the difference between a half-job and gutters that actually drain all winter.

  • 01

    Hand-Cleaned, Not Blown

We pull debris out by hand and bag it. Leaf blowers spray wet muck across the roof and yard and miss the packed-in stuff. Hands and a scoop get it all.

  • 02

    Flat-Rate Pricing

Single-story and two-story homes have set starting prices based on linear footage. You see the number before we set the ladder, and we don't change it without your say-so.

  • 03

    Free Damage Check

While we're up there, we look for loose hangers, separated joints, pinhole rust, sagging sections and overflowing low spots. You get a quick report with photos before we leave.

A wet-season must-do

Gutter Cleaning Before the Rains Hit.

Around here, fall sneaks up. One week the maples are green, the next your driveway is buried in leaves and you've got water sheeting off the front of the gutter because the downspout's plugged. By the time the long November rains settle in, a clogged gutter is already sending water behind your fascia, down your siding, and sometimes into your basement window wells. The Dandy Handyman gets a lot of calls in early October from folks in Mulino, Molalla and Oregon City who want their gutters cleared before the real wet season arrives.

Here's how we clean. We set ladders on a flat, scoped-out spot (never lawn that's been soaked for a week), and we walk the full length of every run pulling leaves, needles and seed pods out by hand. Tucked corners and downspout inlets get scooped clean. Then we drop a hose down each downspout and confirm it drains fast and clean at the bottom. If a downspout is packed, we'll auger it or pop an elbow off to clear it. Everything we pull goes into contractor bags, not your flower beds. When we're done, we walk the perimeter and pick up anything that fell.

We also use the time on the ladder for a quick visual check. Sagging sections, separated end caps, rust pinholes, loose hangers, missing splash blocks, a tree branch scraping the roof: those are all things you'd rather hear about in October than discover during a January atmospheric river. You'll get a short report and a couple of photos so you can decide if you want anything addressed now or later.

Good to know

Gutter Cleaning Questions.

How often should I clean my gutters in the Portland area?
Most homes in Mulino, Molalla, Oregon City and Canby need cleaning twice a year: once in late fall after leaves drop, and once in spring after fir cones and seed pods come down. Homes tucked under big Douglas firs or maples often need three visits a year to stay ahead of it.
Why not just use a leaf blower from the roof?
Blowers work for dry leaves on top, but they don't move wet packed-in debris and they spray muck everywhere. Hand-cleaning is slower but it actually empties the gutter and clears the downspout inlet, which is the part that matters.
Do you flush the downspouts too?
Always. A clean gutter still floods if the downspout is plugged with shingle grit or a wad of needles. We drop a hose down each downspout and confirm strong, clean flow at the bottom before we call the job done.
What if my downspouts feed into an underground drain?
We'll test the flow. If the underground drain is clear, water disappears with no backup. If it's plugged, we let you know and can usually clear short runs with a hand auger. Long buried runs sometimes need a drain specialist with a camera, and we'll say so up front.
Is it safe to clean gutters on a two-story West Linn home myself?
Honestly, that's a lot of homeowners' worst falls. Two-story ladder work on uneven ground or hillside lots is where weekend cleanings turn into ER visits. If you're not comfortable, that's exactly the kind of job to hand off. We do this every week and have the right ladders for it.
Can you install gutter guards?
Yes, basic micro-mesh and screen guards. Note that no guard makes gutters maintenance-free in the Pacific Northwest. Pine and fir needles slip through nearly everything. Guards reduce how often you need cleaning, not eliminate it. We'll give you a straight take on whether they make sense for your trees.
Will you tell me if my gutters need replacement?
Yes. While we're up there we check for rust pinholes, sagging runs, separated joints, loose hangers and rotted fascia behind the gutter. You get a short photo report. We're not pushy about replacement, just honest: a clean gutter that's holding water is still a problem.
Do you clean roofs and remove moss too?
Light moss removal at the gutter edge, yes. Full roof cleaning and moss treatment is its own service we partner on rather than do in-house. We'd rather refer you to a specialist who does it right than rush it as an add-on.
